STAMP

STAMP (Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) is a summative assessment, measuring student reading, writing and speaking proficiencies, delivered securely and efficiently via the Internet in a proctored environment.

STAMP accurately assesses student proficiency levels in Spanish, French, German, Chinese and Japanese, from Novice-Low to Intermediate-Mid, benchmarked to the ACTFL scale. Italian will be available in 2007.

Developed at the Center for Applied Second Language Studies, a National Foreign Language Resource Center at the University of Oregon, STAMP has been piloted with over 20,000 students. Delivered commercially for over two years to over 18,000 students. The test is age appropriate for grades 7 through 12 and post secondary levels. Reading elements are computer adaptive and computer graded, while trained raters grade the writing and speaking elements. Raters are monitored to assure 90% inter-rater reliability. Analysis reports are provided in both individual and group formats.
